Bladeless Fan

Summary

An attempt at designing and making a bladeless fan (correct term would be air mover). I tried to recycle the impeller that was used to create lift in the RC hovercraft project. The goals of the project are to gain experience 3D printing, and learn Arduino RF/wifi module interface (ESP8622).

Internal Components

The gray component is a housing for an MG996R servo motor, designed to drive the impeller rotation beneath an airfoil housing. The housing includes strategically placed arches, which accommodate the impeller while also creating an inlet for optimal airflow. The light blue component fits over the impeller outlet to act as a backflow preventer, ensuring that air pushed through the circular ring flows in the intended direction. This setup maximizes airflow efficiency by minimizing recirculation and maintaining a controlled, directed air stream.

Prototypes

The first prototype (on the left), was made out of cardstock and did not work as intended, the airflow was subpar.

The second prototype which was 3D printed and integrated with a simple switch circuit can be seen on the right.
